Timothy P. Pothin is a partner in the law firm of Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante, P.C. He is admitted to the bar in Connecticut and New York and has practiced law since 1985. Mr. Pothin received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida and graduated from the University of Bridgeport School of Law where he was a member of the Bridgeport Law Review. He has been a member of the Bar in Connecticut and New York since 1985. He lives in Guilford, Connecticut with his wife Kathy and his son Ryan.
Before joining the firm of Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante, Mr. Pothin served as an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County, New York and a Deputy Assistant State's Attorney in New Haven County.
Mr. Pothin is an NBTA Board Certified Civil Trial lawyer. He is rated AV by Martindale Hubbell. Mr Pothin is also a Connecticut Bar Association James W. Cooper fellow. In private practice, Mr. Pothin has tried dozens of cases in the State and Federal courts, both civil and criminal. He also litigated and argued appeals before the Connecticut Supreme Court and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He won acquittals in a number of cases, including a VCAR attempted murder case tried in the United States District Court.
While he regularly defends business entities, individuals and corporate officers named as defendants in lawsuits, he also has an active plaintiff's practice. He successfully prosecuted a multiple plaintiff environmental pollution case, and has successfully tried a third party beneficiary contract case, obtaining large recoveries for his clients in both cases. Mr. Pothin has successfully prosecuted several wrongful death cases, including a case on behalf of the estate of a young woman who was fatally injured while living in a group home that resulted in a $2 million dollar settlement. He has litigated a number of complex product's liability cases, including crash worthiness cases against auto manufacturers.
Mr. Pothin handles white collar cases and Governmental investigations. Most recently, he represented defendants in a large corporate fraud case prosecuted in the United States District Court in South Carolina.
Mr. Pothin is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
