Karen has been practicing for twenty-eight years and is a member of the Connecticut state and federal bars and New York state bar. Karen has argued before Connecticut and New York state appellate courts and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Before joining private practice, she prepared and argued criminal appeals in Hempstead, New York. Karen assists housing authorities and developers with general operational and development issues. Karen advises and defends municipalities in a variety of matters including contract administration, personnel matters, regulatory compliance, tax assessment appeals and tax lien foreclosures. Karen has defended elected and appointed officials on constitutional and statutory claims. In addition, she has advised and represented corporate entities, nonprofits, professionals, health care facilities and manufacturers in employment matters, contract disputes, corporate formation and dissolution and liability claims. Karen is a member of Connecticut’s chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials and serves on the Executive Board and Development Committee. Karen regularly presents to its membership on the issues of repositioning, fair housing training and legal hot topics.
Karen has served on the Connecticut Bar Association’s Committees on Professionalism and Dispute Resolution and Litigation, the New Haven County Bar Association’s Public Service Committee and as Secretary of Connecticut Employment Lawyers Association. Karen has also served as a Special Master mediator in Superior Court. Karen previously served in an elected position on the Woodbridge Board of Education and currently serves as Chair of the Woodbridge Fire Commission and a Board Member of Massaro Community Farm in Woodbridge.
Karen received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her law degree from Hofstra University School of Law where she served as Managing Editor of the Hofstra Law Review. She received the Service to the School and Excellence in Advocacy and Litigation Awards. Karen is listed in Best Lawyers in America for Litigation – Municipal. Karen lives in Woodbridge with her family.
